Product configurator supplier evaluation — Niall Arnfield
Prepared 23 September 2026. https://niallarnfield.com/build-or-buy-product-configurator/

This is a blank practitioner worksheet, not supplier research, a vendor ranking or a validated industry benchmark. The cabinet example in the guide is fictional.

1. Replace the sample procedures and pass conditions with your approved product rules.
2. Decide essential requirements before seeing proposals. A failed essential requirement is not offset by a good total score.
3. Give each candidate the same scope and test environment. Use separate copies or rows for candidates.
4. Status values: Verified; Partial; Unknown; Unsupported in proposed scope. Leave results blank until evaluated. Unknown is not evidence of a missing vendor capability.
5. Record evidence, version/plan, date and remaining work. Re-test changed requirements.
6. Use test systems and agreed fixtures for commercial handoff. Do not submit unsolicited enquiries, pay for orders or put customer details into this worksheet.
7. Compare costs over a consistent chosen period and with the same included services. No prices or supplier scores are provided.

The twelve checks are a starting point, not a complete accessibility, security, privacy or commercial acceptance programme. Use the owning team's agreed requirements.
